Phoebe Yeung is a hand-embroidery artist based in Hong Kong, where vibrant city life meets a deep connection to heritage and craft. She graduated from the Hong Kong PolyU with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design, she has always been drawn to storytelling through image and form.
Her journey into embroidery began over a decade ago, when she discovered Shu embroidery — a traditional Chinese art form known for its elegance and precision. Phoebe now blends this refined technique with her design training, creating works that sit beautifully at the intersection of tradition and modernity. Each piece she creates reflects a quiet narrative — one woven from culture and imagination.

Shu Embroidery
A thread through time
Originating in Sichuan, China, Shu embroidery is one of the oldest and most treasured forms of Chinese embroidery. Known for its luminous silk threads, intricate detail, and graceful shading, it often depicts scenes from nature — flowers, birds, and serene landscapes — with flowing, painterly beauty.
This art form requires patience, discipline, and a deep sensitivity to light, color, and motion. It’s not just embroidery — it’s a living expression of craftsmanship and cultural heritage.
My Mother's Garden
Phoebe’s work is driven by color and composition. She is especially fascinated by gradients — how shades shift from dark to light, and how subtle transitions can give her embroidery a sense of depth and emotion.
Blending modern design principles with traditional techniques, her work feels both contemporary and timeless. Every stitch is intentional, every thread part of a story — vibrant, balanced, and filled with heart.

In the Time of Blooming
Shu embroidery, an art of patience and of silence made visible. With needles as brushes and silk as light, not rushed, not forced, but slowly and quietly, letting flower arrive and leave in its own time.
